Odoo Call Center Setup: What You Actually Need

The real Odoo call center stack in 2026 — VoIP, queues, IVR, wallboards and CRM sync. What matters and what's noise.

Odoo does not ship a call center out of the box — it ships a CRM and a VoIP module. A working Odoo call center is the CRM plus a proper telephony platform plus the discipline to route, queue and report on calls consistently. Here's the stack that actually holds up past 20 seats in 2026.

The five layers of an Odoo call center

  1. SIP trunk — the dial tone. Twilio, Telnyx, Bandwidth or a regional carrier.
  2. PBX / cloud phone platform — queues, IVR, wallboards, ACD routing. 3CX, Aircall, Ringover, FreePBX.
  3. Odoo VoIP module — click-to-dial, screen pop, chatter logging.
  4. Reporting layer — Odoo's built-in call activity reports plus the phone platform's own analytics.
  5. AI layer (optional) — transcription, sentiment, summary, and increasingly, agents that conduct calls themselves.

Sizing the stack

Under 10 seats

Odoo Enterprise + Axivox is fine. You don't need queues yet; direct dial with voicemail fallback covers 80% of the workload.

10–50 seats

Add a real phone platform — Aircall, Ringover or 3CX. You need proper ACD, ring groups and wallboards. Keep click-to-dial linked to Odoo through the vendor's App Store module.

50+ seats

Self-hosted or hybrid becomes viable — 3CX Enterprise, FreePBX with commercial modules, or Genesys/Five9 for regulated verticals. Custom middleware maps calls to res.partner and helpdesk.ticket.

What Odoo does well natively

  • Chatter logging every call to the right record.
  • Activity scheduling for follow-ups.
  • CRM pipeline reporting with call activity as a filter.
  • Helpdesk ticket creation on inbound support calls.

What you have to bolt on

  • Queue-based routing (ACD).
  • IVR menus with time-of-day rules.
  • Real-time wallboards for supervisors.
  • Speech analytics and sentiment.

Odoo call center FAQ

Can Odoo run a call center by itself?

No — Odoo provides the CRM and click-to-dial, but call queueing, IVR, ACD routing and wallboards come from a dedicated phone platform layered underneath (3CX, Aircall, Ringover, FreePBX).

What's the cheapest Odoo call center for 20 seats?

Odoo Community + 3CX self-hosted + a Bandwidth or Telnyx SIP trunk. Recurring cost lands around $600–$900/mo before one-time setup.

Do I need Enterprise for an Odoo call center?

No. Community with App Store modules is fully capable. Enterprise adds the Axivox bundle and some UI polish.
